"A few of my favourite things"...from 2016

"Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens...
These are a few of my favourite things..."

I can't get that song out of my head now... "Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes"
ANYWAY, so I am a tad late with this post but I have been super busy and let me just say that there are lots of exciting things in the pipeline (watch this space) ... but, finally here is my post all about my beauty hits (and a few misses) from 2016.

I picked my top nine beauty products from last year, I couldn't show you all of my favourites or we would be here all day!
I have also included products (at the end of the post) that just didn't rock my boat; they may work for you but personally, they weren't for me.

So, here we have, in no particular order, some of my beauty must-haves from last year
Read on to find out more about each favourite . .

✮1 BRYT Skincare Calm Serum
This product was featured in my October Favourites and I just loved it. I use it as both a serum before my moisturiser and as a primer before applying my makeup. The calm serum does exactly what it says; it 'calms' your skin, and if your face is prone to redness or blemishes like mine, you too will love this product.
BRYT is available in selected pharmacies nationwide.

✮2 Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer
My holy grail of concealers and if you follow me on Snapchat (@stardust_belle) you will already know how much I love this concealer. It works a treat on blemishes, breakouts and under eye dark circles. Available in Debenhams.

✮3 Essence Lash Princess False Lash Effect Mascara
There is an Essence cosmetic stand in my work and when I seen local (and amazing!) MUA Charlene Green rave about this mascara, I had to try it. I would say I'm on my third tube now; it is incredible for just a few euros!
Essence is available in pharmacies and Penneys stores nationwide.

✮4 Cocoa Brown Kind Shampoo & Conditioner
I have a full review of the Cocoa Brown Shampoo & Conditioner here and my post on attending the wonderful event to launch the collection here ♥
I have used these products since they were launched last summer and I just love them. I suffer with some patches of psoriasis around the base of my scalp and, although these are not medicated products and do not treat the psoriasis, I find that they cause no irritation, where most shampoos/conditioners would.
Cocoa Brown products are available in pharmacies and Penneys.

✮5 Powder 'n' Pout Makeup Brushes
You all know by now how much I love and rave about these makeup brushes to anyone who will listen basically. I have a full review on the brushes I have here but pictured are my top five brushes that I practically use every day ~ the P230, P410, P245, P210 and P100.
Powder 'n' Pout makeup brushes are available online here, in the salon itself and selected pharmacies nationwide.

✮6 Flormar CC Cream in CC02 Green
I have several Flormar favourites but I talk about this CC Cream alot! Again, if you follow me on Snapchat, you will have seen me talk about it before.
It is awesome at neutralising redness in the skin and I have been using it loads lately as I have had bad breakouts around my chin. It can be worn either alone or under your foundation for extra coverage. There are various shades available in the CC Cream range for different skin complaints, I haven't tried the others but I must give them a go seeing as I love the green one.
Flormar is available in pharmacies nationwide.

✮7 Nivea Double Effects Eye Makeup Remover
Simply thee best eye makeup remover I have ever used! Alot of eye makeup removers (including the Simple one would you believe) cause my eyes to sting so much and the hard rubbing to remove the mascara doesn't help. However, there is no rubbing and no stinging with this product. I tend to bulk buy it when it's on offer in Boots, I highly recommend this!

✮8 Seventeen Brows That! Brow Kit
I hadn't read anything about this set but I needed a eyebrow powder so I spotted this one in Boots and picked it up. It is a tool kit that contains a mini eyebrow pencil and a set of wax, powder and highlighter. I have been using this more or less every day since I bought it! It is so handy and the pigment from the powder is brilliant!
Seventeen is available in Boots.

✮9 Bare Minerals Mineral Veil Finishing Powder
I got this on one of my many trips to various Sephora stores when we were in California and it is the perfect loose powder to set your makeup. It literally feels like silk on your skin; so lovely! My one is all finished (sad face!) but I will definitely buy another one.
Bare Minerals is available online and in Debenhams stores.

And what I didn't like . . .

This part was tricky because I rarely write about products or things I disliked. However, I wanted to illustrate a few products that I tried and just didn't cut it for me, BUT these products may work perfectly for you.

No7 Soft and Soothed Gentle Cleanser ~ I didn't think there was much 'gentle' about this product. It felt very thick on my skin and like it pulled my skin when I was removing the cleanser with cotton pads, and it wouldn't even remove my makeup fully.
Sleek Matte Me Lipstick ~ I love the shade Birthday Suit but no, I did not like how this lipstick made my lips feel and didn't wear well on me. I wear other matte lipsticks but I wouldn't use this one again.
Rimmel Sculpting Palette by Kate Shade 002 ~ I liked this at first but I have other products which are much better. It's too shimmery, even the shade which is supposed to be 'contour' is shimmery.

What were your beauty hits and misses for 2016?

Thanks for reading!
