I can't believe July is over already, this year is going by sooo fast!

Here is another post in the series I promised I would do ~ my monthly favourites, products that I have been loving throughout the month of July.

There were a lot of products and it was hard to narrow them down so here are my top 10 in no particular order . . .

1 ~ Eau Thermale Avene Soothing Hydrating Serum
I have been using this so much since I bought it a few weeks ago. I had heard about it first from Marissa Carter (Cocoa Brown CEO, surprise surprise. . . You all already know I'm a big follower of Marissa #GirlBoss !!) Marissa raved about this serum in her Snapchat and at her Masterclass that I attended in Donegal Town. The serum is applied before your moisturiser and I have found it to 'prime and prep' my skin, giving it the perfect base for my moisturiser and it helps absorb your moisturiser so much better! This serum soothes and hydrates giving your skin a suppleness which I have never felt before with moisturiser alone, so I definitely feel like I was missing a step in my morning and night time skincare routine... Thanks Marissa! Let's face it (excuse the pun), it's all about the skin being hydrated and supple, now that I'm .. in .. my .. thirties.

I have just recently bought the Pestle & Mortar Pure Hyaluronic Serum (it was on my wishlist for some time, then a sweet discount code for Cara Pharmacy's website meant I couldn't miss it, yes?!) so it will be battle of the serums over the next while now to see which one will win me over. *Watch This Space*

The Avene Hydrating Serum is available in Brennans Pharmacy, Carndonagh, Co. Donegal.

2 ~ Nip + Fab Glycolic Cleansing Fix
The Nip + Fab range is loved by celebrities and this cleanser in particular is loved by Kylie Jenner! It is a cleanser with 2% glycolic acid, which 'retextures and resurfaces' the skin and olive oil to hydrate and smooth the skin. Gylcolic acid is a natural ingredient derived from sugar cane and it is an exfoliator which removes the outer layer of dead skin cells on your skin, resulting in new, fresh skin at the surface. It can help breakout/acne/blackhead prone skin and is also helps with anti-aging.
I only use this every other day because I think it would be too strong for my skin every single day but it has been helping drying out the breakouts I have been getting more frequently; breakouts which I never had problems with when I was a teenager! It has a gel-like consistency and a fresh smell, which is not overpowering. It claims to be a foaming facial wash, however I don't find that it lathers up too much, I still really like the product despite that.

The Nip + Fab range is available on and

3 ~ Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil
I bought this in Sephora and talked about it in my haul post that you can read here. This argan oil is a 100% pure argan oil "rich in Vitamin E and fatty acids to deeply nourish and hydrate the skin." It is a multifunction oil that I have been using on my skin at night, my hair and nails.. and who doesn't love a multifunction/multitasking beauty product!
It absorbs quickly and does not leave my skin looking or feeling at all greasy. I would have sensitive skin and unfortunately I am prone to breakouts around my nose and chin and I find this oil works great at healing breakouts. It works wonders on dry cuticles and split ends, a little drop goes a long way. I suffer with psoriasis on my scalp and I have recently started to dap a little of the oil on the areas that are bad and I have noticed a definite improvement.

I have been searching for Ireland/UK stockists, but I have had no luck! However, it is available on Amazon and Sephora.

4 ~ Nivea Daily Essentials Double Effect Eye Make-Up Remover
This is hands down thee best eye make-up remover I have ever used! I wear mascara every day, and I have tried so many different EMU removers. Most either leave me with stingy eyes (the Simple Eye Make Up Remover is the worst for this) or involve too much rubbing to get the mascara off which is not good for my delicate eyelashes!
I received this in the goody bag from Marissa's Masterclass (you can read that post here) and I have used it every day since. My bottle is nearly finished and I will most certainly be re-purchasing. It is formulated especially for sensitive eyes so no stingy eyes after using it! It consists of a two-phase extra strength formula; one phase is oil which is super effective for removing waterproof mascara and eye makeup, and the second phase is aqueous which protects eyelashes.

The Nivea Double Effect Eye Make-Up Remover is available in most pharmacies and large supermarkets nationwide.

5 ~ Rimmel Sculpting Palette by Kate Moss in 002 Coral Glow
This is a clever little combination palette of highlight, blush and shade, and for a bargain price!
The palette makes it very quick and easy to sculpt your face with the three beautiful shades and a quick 'how to' guide on the back of the palette. It is a great palette for any makeup novices.
The only thing I will say about the palette in this particular shade, although the highlight and blush are very pretty and wearable shades, the 'contour' is a tad shimmery so it is not ideal for contour like the palette says, but it is a very wearable shade for 'sunkissed' look.

The Rimmer Sculpting Palette is available on Rimmel stands in most pharmacies.

6 ~ Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray
This is another purchase from Sephora but it is available in Urban Decay stands in Debenhams stores.
I started to use this spray most mornings because the weather has been so muggy and clammy lately, and what a difference it makes to my makeup's staying power! Pow! It is the best setting spray I have tried that helps my makeup last, look freshly applied and actually, makes it look better. My new holy grail product for sure!
It even features a patented 'Temperature Control Technology', which means.. yes that's right.. it lowers the temperature of your makeup, once misted on your face, to keep all the makeup in place no matter what the weather conditions are.
Simply spray it over your face in a X and T formation, it's such a light mist you don't even know it's there.

Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray is available in Debenhams stores and online.

7 ~ Maybelline Lash Sensational Lash Multuplying Mascara
My trusted Essence Lash Princess mascara has taken a backseat this month for my new favourite mascara by Maybelline! This mascara is simply amazing. It grabs every single little lash and thickens and lengthens them like no other mascara. The brush is designed to grab little and long lashes, hence 'multiplying' in the name. It lasts all day and doesn't flake at all. It is so reasonable, as are all Maybelline mascaras. I have always preferred 'drugstore' mascaras to 'high-end' mascaras and this is definitely my new favourite 'drugstore' mascara.

Maybelline is available in Boots and larger pharmacies nationwide.

8 ~ Amazing Concealer
The Amazing Concealer by Amazing Cosmetics is known as the "Magic Eraser" and I  can confirm it is definitely that. I has been my 'go-to' concealer for my dark circles, breakouts and any blemishes. I only use a tiny amount and blend with a beauty blender-type sponge... It is thee ultimate concealer. It gives full coverage and lasts all day. This is a sample size of Light Golden that I, again, received in Marissa's goody bag. Win win!

Amazing Concealer is available on Cloud 10 here.

9 ~ Powder 'n' Pout Angle Liner P410
These makeup brushes are becoming a regular feature on my blog, and rightly so. My review on a selection of the brushes is right here for you to read, it has been my most popular post to date!
My absolute favourite makeup brush to apply foundation is the Powder 'n' Pout HD Buffer P230. It was hard to choose just one brush to feature in my favourites because they are all incredible brushes but one that I have been using alot is the P410. I have been using it with the Essence Eyebrow Stylist Set for my eyebrows everyday and it applies the powder so easily and precisely!

The Powder 'n' Pout brush range is available in the salon, online and in Brennans Pharmacy, Carndonagh.

10 ~ Primark PS...Love This Oval Cosmetic Pads
A simple favourite but an absolute bargain, as is the whole of the PS...Love This range!
I stock up on these everytime I'm in Primark. I go through sooo many cotton pads and to find these for just 90p a pack.. YES, 90p for a pack of 100, awesome! *Fills Primark shopping basket*

PS...Love This range is available in Primark stores nationwide.

~ Penny and Ivy
Last, but certainly not least.. our two little beauties, Penny and Ivy, two kitten sisters that we rehomed from The Rainbow Rehoming Centre on July 16th.
When Caroline at Rainbow took us into the kitten house, these two little characters immediately started putting on a show for us and it was as if they chose us!
I thoroughly admire the work that Caroline and her colleagues at The Rainbow centre do and the deserve all the help they can get. They do not receive any government funding and rely totally on donations from the public. You can donate at the link above.
We are very lucky to have two Rainbow kittens and to be able to give these two little darlings their forever home.

That is all for this month's favourites!

"The right tools are just as important as the makeup itself."

Powder 'n' Pout is a well-known & loved hair, makeup and nails salon located in Carndonagh, Co. Donegal.
Aisling Cunningham is the salon owner; a professional hairdresser & makeup artist and is so passionate about beauty and extremely talented. She believes that if you have the right makeup tools you can create amazing makeup application and looks.

Aisling has her own range of superior quality, but affordable makeup brushes which "let you define your look, whatever it is, whatever the occasion." The Powder 'n' Pout makeup brushes are available in the salon and online here.  BUT now, the brush range has just recently become available in pharmacies throughout Ireland, making them even more accessible, including Brennans Pharmacy, Carndonagh. YAY!

I have had one of the Powder 'n' Pout brushes for a while now, which I will talk more about later in this post, and I absolutely love it. I received some more brushes from Aisling to try out and I was delighted.
The quality of all of the brushes is second to none, and I thoroughly recommend this extensive range to any makeup lovers and brush addicts.

The range is so affordable, with prices ranging from €6 to €18 for individual brushes. There is a brush set available too, priced at €50.
The boxed packaging is beautiful with the blurb on each brush on the back so you know exactly what to use it for and the little personal touches from Aisling that make such a difference.
Read on for more info...

First up are the three eye brushes from the Flawless Five Set:

~ The Angle Liner P410

This angle liner brush is the perfect brush to achieve the precision application you need for eyebrows, eyeliner and lips. The brush is made of smaller cut fibres to give exact brush control for precision detail. I have been using it for my eyebrows and it applies colour so easily. Retails at €8.

~ The Bullet P325

This brush is amazing for smudging shadows in the outer corner of the eyes to create depth and shape to your eyes. It is great for 'under-eye shadowing' without any shadow falling down on to your cheeks. I used this with my new Tartelette in Bloom eyeshadow palette and it applied the darker colours on the outer edges of my eyes like a dream with no 'fall-down'! Retails at €8.

~ The Duo Crease P245

This brush is like a tiny stipling brush so it can be used several ways. It can be used for blending eyeshadow becuase of the shape of the brush and different length bristles help to blend the eyeshadow perfectly. It can be used also to blend concealer under your eyes because it is such a delicate area. Another use is for precision application of contour and highlighter. I used it to apply contour and highlighter to my nose, and to apply highlight my brow bone and cupids bow. Retails at €10.

~ The Duo Stippling P200

This brush is great for applying, blending and highlighting makeup powders, creams and liquids. The duo fibre brushes give your makeup a streak-free finish. I read up on this brush and another tip is to use it to apply your blush without disturbing your base makeup. This is what I have been using it for as I have a favourite brush to apply my liquid makeup. I would never think to use a stipling brush to apply blush but it does a perfect job of it! Simply sweep and blend! Retails at €18.

~ The HD Buffer P230

The HD Buffer is the mother of all brushes. This is the brush I mentioned earlier and that I have been using for a while now. This brush is my absolute favourite.  It is the best seller and it's easy to see why! It can be used to apply, blend or buff powder, cream or liquid foundation, primer, BB cream or tinted moisturiser. It gives my skin an even coverage and flawless finish everytime in a matter of minutes! I use it to apply liquid foundation everyday and it has never failed me. I highly recommend this brush and I have been raving about it since the brushes came into stock in the pharmacy! Retails at €16.

~ The Powder Dome P100

I haven't used any other powder brush since I got this! It is incredibly soft and so full. I use it for setting my makeup with loose powder (it can also be used for pressed powder) and for applying bronzer. It is a large, round-shaped, fluffy brush and made from super-soft fibres, which make it perfect for finishing for your makeup as it doesn't disturb what you have already applied. I love it, another firm favourite of mine. Retails at €18.

~ The Flat Contour P050

I don't contour every day, but when I do I use this and it is a must for any contouring fans out there! It makes it so easy to contour correctly with it's flat shape that is designed to to fit snugly underneath the cheekbones and jawline, and it's the ideal shape to contour your forehead and nose. The brush absorbs hardly any product, making the colour pay off from the brush incredible.
This brush can be used with pressed or loose powders, liquids or creams. Retails at €17.

~ The Flawless 5 Brush Set

Included in this set is the P410, P325 and the P245 that I have talked about above along with the P120 The Angled blush and the P210 The Duo Tapered Powder. This set includes all the brushes that you will need on to go for your full face of makeup! Retails at €50.

Powder 'n' Pout brushes are now available in pharmacies throughout the country, including Brennans Pharmacy, Carndonagh.

The Flat Contour P050 and the Powder Dome P100 are definitely my next purchases!

The Powder 'n' Pout range is definitely one to watch and is set to firmly put Aisling and her Powder 'n' Pout brand on the map.

My Weekend Makeup

Time for a weekend #FOTD post ~ all the makeup products I have been wearing over this weekend.

~ Flormar Illuminating Primer ... I love this primer! I have featured it in my latest monthly favourites post that you can read here. It provides the perfect powdery and matt base for applying my makeup. I apply the primer with the small Flawless Wonder Brush. This primer is available in Brennans Pharmacy, Carndonagh and is only €9.95.

~ Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Foundation ... I bought this in LA after reading lots of blogger reviews about it and I featured it in my Sephora haul post that you can read here. This foundation is long-lasting and gives my skin a flawless but natural finish with a medium coverage. A little goes a long way! I apply this with the Powder 'n' Pout P230 HD Buffer Brush. This foundation is available in some Debenhams stores and online here.

~ Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer ... I also bought this in Sephora, I went for the trial size. This concealer is brilliant. It feels so lightweight on your skin, it does not feel cakey at all. It is a buildable concealer and blends so well. I use it to cover my dark circles and any blemishes or break outs I have, I apply it with the concelaer brush from the Cara Pharmacy brush set. Urban Decay is available in Debenhams stores and online here.

~ Benefit High Beam ... Highlighters are huge right now, 'It's all about that glow!" and I am slowly building my collection. I love this one from Benefits range. It is a satiny pink liquid highlighter that you apply to where the light would hit your face naturally. I always apply it to my cheekbones, brow bones, down my nose and cupids bow on my lip by doting it on and blend upwards and outwards. Another use of High Beam is to mix a little with your daytime moisturiser for a subtle glow! Benefit is also available in Debenhams stores and online here.

~ Essence Eyebrow Stylist Set Blonde ... I use this every single day and I would be lost without it. It stays on the brows all day. The pigmentation is so strong, with a lighter and darker shade in the set so you can get your perfect shade. Essence is an extremely affordable cosmetic range available in Brennans Pharmacy stores.

~ Maybelline Lash Sensational Lash Multiplying Mascara ... This is in my top two favourite mascaras right now, the other being Essence Lash Princess. This Maybelline mascara is amazing. I am lucky to have long lashes but they are thin so this mascara is perfect for me. It has Maybelline's first 'lash reveal' brush which grabs even the tiniest of lashes and volumises. This mascara lengthens, volumises, seperates and defines my lashes. It is not clumpy at all, and I have experienced no flaking of this mascara throughout the day. Maybelline is available in Boots.

~ Blank Canvas Master Series Palette One ... I got this as a birthday present last month and I just love it! There are 11 velvety matte shades and one shimmer shade. Also included in the palette is a double-ended brush, one end being the Blank Canvas E40 for apply colour and lining, and the other end being the Blank Canvas E41 for blending. These shades are my ideal colours, I'm definitely a neutral/smokey eye girl. This palette is obviously the first palette in a series and I am excited to see what the future palettes will be like. Blank Canvas is available in Inish Pharmacy stores and online here.

~ Bare Minerals Mineral Veil ... Loose powders are my go-to for setting and finishing my makeup. I had read so much about the Bare Minerals one that I just had to give it a go. I will definitely be sticking with this powder in the future. It softens my complexion, absorbs oil and minimises pores (and any little fine lines I may have.) When I use this I feel like my makeup is 'locked' in place, and best of all, the Mineral Veil is completely weightless. Bare Minerals is available in Boots and Debenhams stores and online here.

~ Mac Lipstick Velvet Teddy and Lipliner Spice ... A combination made famous by Kylie Jenner, I got these as a little present also and I am a bit obsessed! The colour combination with these two products is beautiful. Velvet Teddy is described by MAC as a deep toned beige colour with a matte finish. Don't be put off by the matte finish as I only found a little bit of drying but for the one coat of lipstick that lasts me all day, I'll put up with a little bit of drying. The Spice lipliner is perfect with Velvet Teddy. It is deep brown pink and is really easy to apply. MAC is available in Debenhams stores and online here.

Flormar Flower Tales Collection

I'm a big Flormar cosmetics fan as I have mentioned in previous posts; the Primer is my favourite!
Finally I am getting round to doing this review of the newest additions to the Flormar family.

The new products of the Flormar range are inspired by colourful and lively spring/summer flowers.
Say hello to the new and super pretty Flower Tales Collection!

The new floral inspired collection includes the ultimate face products pictured above ~ the Smooth Touch Foundation and Creamy Stick Blush, and it is safe to say I love these products!

The Smooth Touch Foundation is available in 8 shades, which range from Porcelain to Honey.
I currently own 02 Porcelain and 10 Sand.

This foundation gives a medium to high coverage with a light texture; it is a formula that has been clinically proven to have up to 12 hours hydration. The foundation leaves a natural, smooth and bright finish on the skin and it is suitable for all skin types. I have found it to cover redness in the skin well too. It doesn't feel heavy or cakey at all on the skin.

Since I got this foundation I have more or less worn it everyday to work and I love it. I apply it with the Powder 'n' Pout P230 HD Buffer Brush and the finish with this makeup is flawless; a little goes a long way. It lasts all day without having to reapply, which I normally would because my skin can be oily at times.
The long lasting light texture foundation contains a blend of Lotus Flower Extract and Orchid Complex, which helps bring out the natural beauty of the skin! The combination of both of these ingredients moisturise the skin but leave a non-oily finish. It also helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines. Winner!
This foundation also contains SPF 20 which is a bonus as it means protection against the harmful effects of the sun helping to keep your skin looking healthy and young!

As you can see the shade Sand is way too dark for me and the Porcelain is little too light so I blend a bit of both together to get my perfect shade. I have read other blogger reviews saying they have found the Sand shade is perfect with tan.

The Creamy Stick Blush is available in four shades; Rose Pink, Coral Reef, Peach Blossom and Redwood. These blush sticks add a touch of colour to define and highlight the cheeks with a semi-matt finish and it is suitable for all skin types.
I have the Rose Pink shade and it is a gorgeous barbie pink colour which is perfect for my pale skin!

The Creamy Stick Blush contains Jojoba Oil which softens the skin and again, leaves it looking healthy. Just apply directly to the cheeks and blend! I have been using the smallest Flawless Wonder Brush to blend the cream blush.

The Smooth Touch Foundation is €11.95 and the Creamy Stick Blush is €9.95.
Powder 'n' Pout Brushes and Flawless Wonder Brushes are available in Brennans Pharmacy, Carndonagh and the Flormar Flower Tales Collection will be available in Brennans soon!

Bioderma Micellar Solution ~ Mini Review

This product was featured in my June Favourites and is remaining a firm favourite in my skincare routine ~

I'll admit, I am late to the Bioderma party. I have seen so many rave reviews about this skincare range but I was busy trying every other kind of Micellar waters out there! Although I do love the Avene Cleanance Micellar Water which I used in my skincare routine all of last year in the lead up to our wedding, the Bioderma is one I will be sticking with for now.

I finally caved and bought one from the Cara Pharmacy pop-up shop at Marissa's Masterclass. I went for the one I have pictured and linked here because my skin is combination/oily. This Purifying Cleansing Micelle Solution smells so fresh and is super gentle on the skin with it's ultra-mild cleansing formula, but can remove the heaviest makeup, including eye makeup. It cleanses the skin without drying it out and it does so "through micro-emulsion of impurities and excess sebum". It contains a patented sebo-correcting Fluidactiv® complex, so this particular Bioderma cleanser is for combination/oily skin as it normalises sebum.

I use it morning and night. This is fast becoming a holy grail product of mine in my skincare routine. I have the 250ml bottle, it is also available in a 100ml.

What are you holy grail products in your skincare routine?

Danielle x

Friday, July 1, 2016

I wanted to share with you some of my monthly favourites from June, a series that I will do monthly from now on.
So in no particular order ~
First up is a product from the new Lancome range. Energie De Vie has been one of Lancome's most successful product launches and it is easy to see why.
I recently bought The Overnight Recovery Sleeping Mask and I absolutely love it! I first seen it on SoSueMe's Snapchat when she was on holiday and she raved about it, see her blogpost here.
The blurb on this product states: "This sumptuous, bouncy new mask plumps up your skin with moisture, leaving it looking hydrated, fresher and visibly smoother" and it certainly does. I felt the difference after one night of using this product. It's time now to start looking after my skin properly.. in my 30s now and all, I should've started a long time ago!... But this product is definitely an essnetial to give my skin the hydration it needs. It has the consistency of a balm, and it can be used as a night cream, a 15 minute mask or a sleeping mask. My skin feels amazing after each use so it is a firm favourite of mine and I can't wait to purchase the other products in the range.

Next is the Flormar Illuminating Primer Make Up Base ~ I love this primer and I have mentioned it in a previous post here. I have tried so many primers from high-end to budget and this is my favourite yet. The consistency is lightweight and it contains green tea and acacia which creates the perfect base for makeup. It smooths out fine lines and prepares the skin by giving it this smooth look. My makeup lasts so much longer with this primer. I apply it with the Flawless Wonder Brush to create the perfect base for my makeup.

My next June favourite is another Flormar product. The Smooth Touch Foundation from their newly launched Flower Tales collection is beautiful. The Smooth Touch Foundation is available in 8 shades and has medium to high coverage. This collection gives the skin a natural and bright finish. It also contains SPF20 which is an added bonus! I love it for my everyday makeup. I will have a full review up soon!

Next up are the newly launched products from my beloved Cocoa Brown; the new Kind collection which I just recently posted my review on here. These products are lush and so affordable. The 200ml sizes will be available from July 8th and I can't wait to stock up! If you suffer from a sensitive scalp, or have coloured hair/extensions you must try the Kind shampoo and conditioner for a fresh, heavenly smelling but gentle wash.

I have tried lots of Micellar Cleansing Waters but the one I am loving at the minute is the Bioderma Sebium H2O Purifying Cleanning Micelle Solution (and no that is not a typo, it is actually called Micelle!). I use this night and day to remove makeup and cleanse my face. It cleanses the skin without drying it out and it does so through micro-emulsion of impurities and excess sebum. It contains a patented sebo-correcting Fluidactiv® complex, so this particular Bioderma cleanser is for combination/oily skin.

Next up is a makeup brush that has been a staple of mine since I bought it. Aisling from Powder 'n' Pout in Carndonagh has launched her own range of brushes and I proudly own the HD Buffer P230 and it is uh-maz-ing ~ see here. I use it every single day and it never fails me. It applies foundation flawlessly and effortlessly and I am not surprised it is the best seller. Aisling states that it is perfect for that flawless finish and even coverage every time, and I can say that it definitely does that. It is a makeup brush that I can't ever see me replacing.. except with a new P230.

A little birthday present that is a big favourite of mine is the much-loved Blank Canvas Master Series Palette One! This palette is a huge seller and it has been out of stock for a long time so I was very excited to get one to add to my makeup collection. I adore the colours, exactly the colour palettes that I love. Lots of different looks could be achieved from this palette, it is a real beauty!

My next favourite is nothing to do with beauty and skincare, but a TV show... Since we did the Warner Brothers Studio tour in Hollywood and we were lucky enough to be on the actual TV set (the sitting room..very cool!), we have not stopped watching The Big Bang Theory! If you have never seen TBBT, it revolves around five characters who live in Pasadena, California; Sheldon, Leonard, Howard, Raj and Penny. It is genius, brilliant and hilarious.. and every season is on Netflix!
Favourite TV show

And last but not least, is my social media favourite ~ Snapchat!
It is my favourite out of the social media platforms (but I am a big Twittterer, Instagrammer and Facebooker!). I follow so many people.. tweet me your Snapchat and I will follow!
Check out my "About Me" page for my social media links.

That is all of my June Favourites... What are some of your favourite products?
